Welcome to the Massachusetts Association of Italian American Police Officers

The Massachusetts Association of Italian American Police Officers came together in 1968. Three Boston Police Officers sought a charter and formed a group for the purpose of providing a fellowship and common support mechanism for members of the Law Enforcement Community, who are of Italian heritage. In the years since that modest beginning, the Massachusetts Association of Italian American Police Officers has distinguished itself as one of the finest ethnic organizations in the United States.

AP - Last weekend, 14-year-old Ashley Long told her parents she was going to a slumber party. But instead of spending the night watching videos and eating popcorn two blocks away, she piled into a car with a bunch of her friends and rode to a condo in Medford, Ore., where police say the big sister of one of her friends was throwing a party with booze and marijuana.

Dear Members & Friends

Once again it is time for our Annual Awards Banquet. This year’s event is on Saturday, May 7, 2011. This will mark our Forty-Third year as a law enforcement membership association. The banquet will be held at the Hilton Boston/Woburn Hotel at 2 Forbes Road, Woburn, Massachusetts and feature a five course Italian dinner . The Cocktail Hour will run from 5:00 PM to 6:00PM with dinner being served at 6:30 P.M and the Awards Program will commence promptly at 7:30 PM.

As part of this year’s program The Massachusetts Association of Italian American Police Officers will be honoring the memory of a fallen Police Officer with our Association’s Medal of Honor. In addition, we will be presenting the prestigious The Order of Michael the Archangel, The Marconi Award and The Medal of Valor as well as honoring our retirees. As we reflect on the awards we will be presenting to those that have passed on, it becomes clear that while more should be done to recognize the sacrifice each of these recipants have made and bring greater awareness to the impact their loss has had on their families, we as an association can only do our best to show our appreciation. Please help the Board of Directors and myself to do our part so that these heroic acts of valor and memories will never be forgotten.

As is our custom, we are honoring several of our newly retired fellow Law Enforcement Officers and presenting them with their retirement plaques. This is truly a significant tribute to these officers who have spent years of dedicated service to keep their communites safe. The men and women we honor at our banquet come from different agencies and backgrounds, but are bound by the common values: Courage, Sacrifice and Service. Time and again, across generations, law enforcement officers and service men and women have traveled to the most dangerous corners of the world and defended our
safety at home and abroad. These men and women deserve our recognition for their dedication to duty. Just as they have stood tall for our country we must always stand by and support the men and women in uniform and their families!

Our awards will include the presentation of:

Retiree Plaques
Medal of Honor Posthumously
Patrolman John B. Maguire, Woburn Police Department

The Law Enforcement Medal of Valor Awards
